FOR WOMEN
FOLLOW THESE TIPS:
1: FITTED IS BEST!
Fitted clothing that shows your shape works best. This applies to any body type. Outfits should hug your curves. Always choose tailored over loose or boxy. Skip anything that is uncomfortable or prevents free movement.
2: KEEP IT SOLID
Avoid patterns, stripes, florals or polkadots. Solids always photograph best. We want your face to be the star of the show!
3: UNDERWEAR
Pair a black bra with dark clothing, and stick with nude bras under light colored clothes. Shapewear is always recommended for concealing problem areas and removing panty lines. Spanx is a great brand and is easy to find in most department stores.
4: HAIR & Makeup
Kickstart your hairstyle with a good blowout. Arrive with clean, dry hair and makeup that’s slightly amped up more than you would normally wear. Otherwise, studio lights will wash out your features. For example, apply a little more mascara than normal.
5: press & iron
Clean and press ALL clothes in advance. We have a steamer, however touchups will cut into your session time.
6: Beauty prep
Avoid anything that isn’t part of your normal beauty routine. No spray tans, radical hairstyle changes, botox or fillers within two weeks of your scheduled session.
7: Nails
Don’t forget your manicure and/or pedicure. Bad nails and ruin an image. French, buff, deep or nude nails work best.
FOR MEN
FOLLOW THESE TIPS:
1: TAILORED IS BEST!
A form-fitted, tailored look is best. This applies ot any body shape. Wardrobe pieces should fit arms and legs properly and shouldn’t be too tight across the chest or stomach. Always choose tailored over boxy. Skip anything that is uncomfortable or prevents free movement.
2: KEEP IT SOLID
Avoid tight plaids or patterns. This will create a digifial effect called moiré (a strange and very distracting wavy pattern). Solids always photograph best.
3: UNDERWEAR
And we don’t mean boxers or briefs! Undergarments are also important for men. Be sure white shirts arent’t too thin. If so, you’ll need to bring an undershirt to complete your look. Don’t forget coordinating socks as well.
4: ORGANIZE
Coordinate pieces from each ensembel together on the same hanger. Example: shirt + jacket + trousers + tie. Make sure all pieces harmonize. Hanging garment bags are a great investment as well.
5: PRESS & Iron
Clean and press ALL clothes in advance. We have a steamer, however touchups will cut into your session time.
6: SKIN & Hair prep
Start your day with a good shave. Avoid anything that isn’t part of your normal beauty routine. No spray tans or radical hairstyle changes two weeks of your scheduled session. Opt for a a haircut the week before, not the day before.
7: Nails
Don’t forget to manicure your nails. Keep them clean and filed for a professional look.
JEWELRY
Keep it simple
Simple, classic pieces work best. Think studs, small hoops and pearls. Simple gold or silver bracelets can also add a pop of style and visual interest without overwhelming. Avoid iWatches unless they are part of your brand.
