WARDROBE GUIDE
StartOUR BEST TIPS
1: FIT
We require that you bring neatly pressed, wrinkle-free clothing. This will ensure the best results for your session.
Note: Steaming garments in the studio will cut into your session time.
Avoid garment bags as they can re-wrinkle clothing.
When possible, opt for fabrics that resist wrinkling—linen is not recommended.
2: FIT
Try every outfit on. If it looks too big or too small in the mirror, it will look the same way on camera. Fit is everything!
Clothes should hug your curves. Skip clothing that shows too much cleavage, is uncomfortable or prevents free movement. Always choose tailored over loose or boxy.
Make sure you can see your waistline otherwise your shape will look rectangular. Belts are a great accessory for this.
3: UNDERWEAR
Consider the underwear you’ll need for each outfit. You may need a strapless bra or nude thong. Pair black bras with dark clothing, and pair nude bras with light-colored clothes.
Shapewear is awesome and is always recommended for concealing problem areas and removing panty lines. Spanx is a great brand and is easy to find in most department stores.
4: SOLIDS
Solids photograph better than patterns. Avoid stripes, plaids and florals as these can look very fashion’y and will take the focus away from your face.
If you want to make your headshots interesting without using patterns and big jewelry, layer your clothing instead. Just do in moderation.
5: ARMS
Love your arms? Show them off with a strapless dress or sleeveless top.
Hate your arms? Pass on anything strapless or with cap sleeves, which emphasize the widest part of the arm.
Either way, bring at least 2 – 3 outfits with long sleeves.
6: colors
Choose colors that complement your hair and skin tone. Take color psychology into consideration. What message do you want to convey using color? Not sure which colors look best on you? Look at old photos or ask people you trust.

JEWELRY
Keep it simple
Simple, classic pieces work best. Think studs, small hoops and pearls. Simple gold or silver bracelets can also add a pop of style and visual interest without overwhelming.
Sentiment or fashion
Sentimental pieces are always a fun addition and bring meaning to your images. Just make sure they aren’t the star of the show.

We also have a studio jewelry collection that you are welcome to wear during your session.
